NSTU Professional Associations Conference 2024

In October 2024 as a first year student I attended the Art Teachers Association Conference. The theme this year was "Artful Minds" and the Workshop I attended was called “Zero Skill, Zero $$$ -
Surviving Art in the Elementary Classroom” Presented by Lynn Coolen from HRCE. This was a very useful Workshop that incorporated tips and tricks to afford art in the classroom especially with minimal budgets. Using materials that should already be available such as printer paper and markers we learned how to make stamps using foam.

The Nova Scotia ASK Project

The NS ASK Program encourages teachers to incorporate Physical Active Learning within their lesson plans. Not only is this important to ensuring students keep active but also it has been proven that learning while being physically active helps improve engagement in the material being taught. The workshop provided the tools necessary to incorporate movement into lesson plans at all grade levels.
