My first practicum was a bit different than some. Rather then experiencing only 1 grade level I was able to experience 2. For my first week of practicum in November 2024 I was with a grade primary class. This was such a sweet group of students and I was able to have an idea of what teaching primary looks like. Unfortunately my practicum teacher was not available to guide me through my February practicum week, nor my 5 week block in April/May. I was moved to a grade 3 class at the same school to complete my practicum. I quickly learned that teaching grade primary vs. grade 3 is very different. Where primary students are really learning how school works and the basics, grade 3 students are starting to get into more complicated structured learning.
